A double-pole (DP) fuse switch is     an electrical safety device that combines a manual switch and a fuse holder into a single unit. It is primarily used for completely isolating an electrical circuit by simultaneously disconnecting both the live and neutral wires, which provides a safer and more reliable method of isolation than a standard single-pole switch. 

Key functions and features

• Dual-circuit control: A DP fuse switch is essentially two switches operated by one mechanism, allowing it to control two separate circuits at once. For residential applications in many regions, this means it switches both the live (hot) and neutral lines simultaneously.
• Enhanced safety: By interrupting both the live and neutral connections, the switch ensures that no current can pass through the circuit when it is in the "off" position. This is a critical safety feature, especially when working on an appliance or performing maintenance.
